Solterreno Retreat Centre
is a small family run Holistic retreat centre located in the south east of Spain, in the hills behind Javea and Denía, (the Costa Blanca) midway between Valencia and Alicante. It is on terraced land surrounded by cherry and almond trees with amazing views back to the sea some 20km away. Perfect for a retreat, a rest or walking in the hills. It's own web site

"At the risk of creating a stampede to this wonderful place, Solterreno is now on my "best places on earth" list. The cabin itself is spacious and comfortable, the kitchen has all necessaries, the bathroom is well-designed and private (and great water pressure), but it's the deck and what you can see from it that makes this place special. Distant mountains, fog, birdsong, dogs romping in the olive groves...wander over to the meditation room, take a quick dip in family pool...hike through the hills... This is a wonderful place. Bodhin was a welcoming and accommodating host, but he leaves you alone to enjoy the solitude that is one of Solterreno's gifts. I can't recommend Solterreno highly enough."
All the food served at Solterreno is home cooked using very good quality ingredients. You can expect a well balanced energetic vegetarian mediteranean style. If you have any special dietary needs then please let us know.

La Vall de Laguar
La Vall de Laguar Means "place of many springs" and refers to the region made up of three villages; Campell (Poble de Baix), Fleix (Poble d’Enmig) and Benimaurell (Poble de Dalt) as well as including the Sanatorio San Antonio de Borja de Fontilles. The area lies within Marina Alta in the north of the province of Alicante and is some 500m above sea level. It sits between two sierras; on one side we have the "Barranco del Infierno" gorge formed by the passing of the river Girona and on the other, like a huge green sleeping horse is the "Sierra del Cavall Verd and the Sierra del Penyó (800 m) It is essentially a small agricultural community dedicated to cultivating almonds, olives, figs, algarrobos, oranges and above all cherrys. Due to the different harvest time enables these products to support the population of around 1,000 through out the year.
Solterreno is just 25kms inland from Denía (20min by car) and an hour and a half from the airports of Valencia and Alicante. It has a typical Mediterranean climate with mild winters and hot summers, softened by the influence of the sea some 15-20km away, on clear days you can see all the way to Ibiza. Although close to the coast it is a long way from the noise and crowds, closer to nature and peace and quiet.
We are midway between Valencia and Alicante. So here are instructions of how to travel from those two airports.
